Emerson Career Site is Hiring a Quality Technician Near Elyria, OH

Based in our Elyria, OH location, the Quality Engineer manages and creates systems and procedures to improve product quality and improve risk mitigation by actively participating in continuous improvement activities. This highly visible position works across many functions to ensure our products are being made to the highest quality standards possible. This includes working with manufacturing departments and suppliers to improve process yield and reduce process variation. This is a great opportunity for the right individual to combine their passion for customer focused quality with team leadership and quality improvement skills.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in resolving in-house and vendor materials-related technical and quality issues.
  • Programming of CMM equipment and other automated measurement processes
  • Participate / Lead with Internal Auditing for the Elyria facility. 
  • Participate / Lead in the material review board (MRB) process.
  • Provide training and mentoring to promote proper use and understanding of quality tools.
  • Track process performance and identify improvement opportunities by analyzing data from multiple sources.
  • Work closely with suppliers (Quality Issues, Audits, Root Cause & Corrective Actions)
  • Compile scrap reports daily and report out on the data.
  • Assist in the investigation of root cause and corrective actions.
  • Create CoC’s as required (Certificate of Conformance).
  • Create Quality Alerts as needed based on defined criteria.
  • Compile customer cases and report out on the data.
  • Assist in the creation and upkeep of procedures, forms, and work instructions.
  • Manage Quality’s section on the Lean Daily Management boards.
  • Create and distribute Quality corrective actions based on defined criteria.
  • Other Quality related tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Materials, Engineering, manufacturing, or Quality related role
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and various data collection and analysis packages.
  • Proven ability to take direction and complete projects on a pre-determined timeline.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CMM & other automated measurement experience (Vision Systems, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Experience with creating reports and communicating data to leadership.
